Tappan Zee Student Creates Substance Abuse Committee Banner

Tappan Zee High School student Marissa DeStefano submitted the winning entry in a contest to create the new banner for the Orangetown Substance Committee.

The Orangetown Substance Abuse Committee held a contest for Pearl River and Tappan Zee High School students to create its new banner.

Tappan Zee student Marissa DeStefano created the winning entry, the drawing of which is attached to this report. She won a $100 Visa gift card.

Two other Tappan Zee students, Sarah Aitchison and Jonathan Wilborn, took second and third, each receiving a $25 gift card. South Orangetown Community Awareness of Substance Abuse (SOCASA) provided the gift cards.

The certificates were presented to the students Friday morning at Tappan Zee High School. Chairperson Ed O'Dea, Ann Marie Hahr and Orangetown Police Lt. Don Butterworth represented the Orangetown Substance Abuse Committee.

The banner is used for various activities such as Sk8 Night and the Orangetown Police Department open house.
