Tell Us: Peter King's Reaction?

Did the congressman's attack on members of his own party surprise you?

Rep. Peter King was simply livid: When the outgoing Congress failed to enact its promised Hurricane Sandy relief package, the congressman let them have it:

"We cannot believe that this cruel knife in the back was delivered to our region," said King, R-Seaford, on the floor of the House of Representatives. "I have to go home this weekend and next week and the week after and see hundreds of thousands of people who are out of homes, who don't have shelter, who don't have food.

"...This is not United States of America," King said. "This should not be the Republican Party. This should not be the Republican leadership."

King was joined by New York area political leaders from both parties in blasting Congress' inability to provide the disaster relief.

How did you react to King's statements?

What is your reaction to Congress letting Long Island go without the funding?

Heres some unsaid things to consider. NY is a very Blue State. Not a State where anyone has to worry which way the wind blows in NYS. It's always Democrat. We are not a swing State like Florida or others. No one worries how NYS will vote. So consider this fact. NYS has the highest taxes in the Country. Dem leadership. NYS is dead last in educational standards of achievement of its students. Dem leadership. See a pattern here? Taxes are the law of NYS land. That's the fix the Dems always find is the solution. NOT cutting operating expenses but let's add a new tax to something. Sickening isn't it? So why is it taking so long to get aid to Long Island and Staten Island and NYS from Sandy? Don't ask Peter King. Ask your Democratic leadership. Aren't they the ones who provide NYS all our luxaries and solutions? The rest of the Nation looks upon us as "capable" of fixing our own problems. Don't like what's going on or lack of help? VOTE them ALL out of office and that includes each and every DEMOCTRAT in this State. What have they done for us over the last 66 days and still waiting for Federal help? What has Obama done to fulfill his promises that "FEMA" works for me? They're out of money and are not permitted to help fund mold removal issues. Stop blamming the wrong party. Look to those in charge of NYS. It's not Peter King or the Republicans, it's the Democrats who rule this State. Time for a change indeed. Ask the Governor where the help is.

Peter King , Boehner, and the rest of the republican party are a national disgrace. King who screamed about Boehner one day and then back pedaled the next day because he did not have the balls to vote against Boehner for the house leader. So now we have a spineless representative. He is ok that they split the "Sandy" bill up in two. What a useless politician. As far as the blame goes , this one belongs to the pathetic republicans in the house .

You do realize that Sandy didn't just impact NY and NJ, right? The money in the bill for the Smithsonian roof is because of damage from Sandy. The money for DHS was for equiptment damaged and destroyed by Sandy. The "tree planting" is again.. destroyed by Sandy.

The republicans have lost center-right voters. The Teapublicans have won the day. If you were a moderate republican and lived in an area that is affected by natural disasters would you support a party that would not be willing to come to your assistance?

Umm.. Dan... yeah... except for 2 years, the State Senate was and is republican controlled. A few years ago for over a decade the republicans controlled the Senate and had the governorship (Yes I know we'd all like to forget pataki). NYS doesn't have the highest taxes in the country and no we are not dead last in education. The sad fact is that the Red States are the welfare states and because of the Red State republicans having so much power in the federal government for so long, NYS gets 73 cents back for every $1 we send to the Feds. Let's look locally... the republicans are the majority of our representatives in NYS government and Skelos was the #2 and now #1 man in the Senate and LI got less and less aid.. UNDER A REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR. Don't blame democrats for that.. and sure as hell don't blame NYC which gets $11billion less back than it pays to NYS in taxes. Again, it's the republican districts upstate that get our money. See a pattern?
