Vanderhoef Announces $2.67 Million in Federal Grants

Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef announced Wednesday which non-profit organizations and municipalities would receive portions of $2.67 million in federal Housing and Urban Development money.

Clarkstown projects and one in South Nyack will receive portions of $2.67 miillion in federal grant money earmarked for Rockland County this year.

The federal Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funding goes to non-profit organizations, towns and villages in grants awarded by the Rockland County Office of Community Development.

"As in the past, we are grateful to HUD for this grant funding that will assist our towns and villages in completing improvement projects that will enhance our community," Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef said. "The funding will also help our not-for profit organizations in providing vital programs and services to our residents."

The money is broken up into approximately $1.9 million in Community Development Block Grants, $580,000 in HOME Investment Partnership Programs and $163,000 in Emergency Solutions Grants.

The Rockland County Office of Community Development chose which groups receive the grants through a review process that began Sept. 1, 2013. Director of Housing and Community Development Joseph Abate worked with South Nyack Mayor Patricia DuBow, Stony Point Supervisor Geoff Finn and Vanderhoef on this year's review process.
