Pearl River Kindertgarten Registration

The Pearl River School District will hold registration for incoming kindergartners for September 2012 on Wednesday, February 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Thursday, February 2, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Pirate Cove at Pearl River High School. Pearl River High School is located at 275 East Central Avenue. Take the very first entrance off of East Central and follow the parking lot around to the gym/cafeteria entrance to signs for the Pirate Cove.

Children must be five years old on or before December 1, 2012 to be eligible for admission to kindergarten in September 2012.  A birth certificate with raised seal or other official documentation providing date of birth, a record of immunizations, and  proof of residence within the Pearl River School District is required at registration. Acceptable proofs of residence include copies of a mortgage or lease, house closing papers, property tax bill or utility bill.

In order to plan and provide for all new students, it is especially important that the district identify all children expected to enroll in September. Pearl River's three elementary schools – Evans Park, Franklin Avenue, and Lincoln Avenue - accommodate students in grades kindergarten through four. Enrollment is assigned across all three schools. While geographic boundaries serve as a general guideline, school assignment will depend on class size and special education programming.

Following registration, the district conducts kindergarten screening by appointment each spring. A team of faculty and staff screens each child. An orientation and visitation for students is planned for a later date.
