Pearl River Parents Supporting Young Readers With Super Hero Show

Evans Park Elementary School in Pearl River wrapped up its annual Parents as Reading Partners with a play put on by a group of parents and teacher Tom Price with the theme of super heroes as super readers.

Evans Park Elementary School encourages its students with a Parents as Reading Partners (PARP) program every year.

They close out it out with two major events, the play directed by teacher Tom Price and the Rockland Read-In.

The students at Evans Park packed the multi-purpose room Thursday for the play. Price writes, directs and creates the costumes and parents make up the cast. It follows the theme the students have been focusing on all through PARP, which was Super Heroes are Super Readers this year.

In the play, books have gone missing from the town library and various super heroes including Batman, Wonder Woman, Spider-Man, Captain America and the Hulk must find them and figure out who took them.

PARP ends today with the Rockland Read-In, which allows students to devote part or all of their day to reading. Franklin Ave. and Lincoln Ave. Elementary Schools will also participate.
