Franklin Avenue Elementary Open Thursday

One day after having to send students to other schools in the district, Franklin Avenue Elementary School in Pearl River will be open for a regular school day Thursday. UPDATE: O&R has restored power to Franklin Avenue Elementary.

The Pearl River School District announced late Wednesday that Franklin Avenue Elementary School will be open for a regular day Thurdsay.

Franklin Avenue was open Wednesday, but due to insufficient heat in the building, the district made the decision early in the day to send most of the students to Evans Park Elementary and Lincoln Avenue Elementary.

Orange & Rockland Utilities still has not returned normal power to the school. According to the Pearl River School District website, heat and electricity were restored at Franklin Avenue Elementary with the use of an industrial generator. The building will be monitored overnight and if there is any change that would force the school to be closed, the district will send a K-12 alert by 6:15 a.m.

UPDATE: The district announced Thursday morning that Orange & Rockland has restored power to Franklin Avenue Elementary.
