Franklin Avenue Playground Nominated in Power A Bright Future Contest

The committee working to replace the playground at Franklin Avenue Elementary School has entered the project in Clorox's Power a Bright Future Contest, in which winners will receive up to $50,000.

Residents working to replace the playground at Franklin Avenue Elementary School set raising $100,000 as their goal.

They are looking for help to win a contest that coulld get them halfway there.

The Franklin Avenue Playground Committee entered their cause in the Clorox Power a Bright Future program, which offers grants for school programs.

The contest is broken into three categories -- Play, Create and Explore. Franklin Ave. is entered in the Play category, which is for programs that encourage children to get out and play. Each of the three categories will receive a grant, with the company counting votes by the public, as will one additional judge's choice.

Nominations were in by Nov. 17. Voting began Oct. 24 and runs through Dec. 9, with the winners announced in January. Anybody over the age of 13 is eligible to vote once per day.  The Franklin Avenue nomination can be found here.
