Rockland Country Day Students Vye for $15,000 PSA Prize

Help them win this competition and fight distracted driving.

A public-service video by a team of Rockland Country Day School students is one of 10 finalists in a national competition to prevent distracted driving, one of the greatest causes of car accidents among teenagers.

Rockland Country Day School students Griffon Sgroi-Jacobs, Evan Murphy, and the RCDS Film Club have succeeded in demonstrating just how distracting texting can be while driving with a clever video that brings texts to life.

"Through strong visualization of the danger of texting, the film caught the attention of the judges of this video challenge," school officials said in a press release.

Out of more than 1,000 entries, the RCDS entry has placed in the final 10 in the Toyota Teen Driver program created by Toyota Corporation and Discovery Education. The winner will be chosen by popular vote.

Toyota Teen Driver is a comprehensive program to help teens avoid distractions and stay safe behind the wheel, and the competition is part of it.

Teens were invited to submit original videos to win the opportunity of having their Public Service Announcement aired. There's also a $15,000 cash prize.
