Parking will be restricted to one side of the road on streets around Pearl River Middle School for back to school night Monday.
Pearl River School District officials met with Orangetown Police last week to address parking problems at previous back to school nights at Pearl River Middle. Vehicles parked on both sides of roads near the school have made it difficult to drive along them and nearly impossible for fire trucks or ambulances to get through if necessary
Orangetown Police will be marking one side of each street as no parking on Gilbert Ave., Lois Drive, Lenape Road and Oldert Drive. Also, Nauraushaun Swim Club at 560 Gilbert Ave. will be available for overflow parking. The Pearl River School District is providing shuttle buses from the swim club to the school, though it is walking distance for some.
