Back in August, the New York State Education Department approved the Pearl River School District's Annual Professional Performance Reviews (APPR) plan.
District employees are adapting to the state-mandated evaluations of teachers and building principals and new common core standards. These mandates brought about changes in what teachers focus on in the classroom and how students will be tested.
Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Sue Wheeler will explain mandates and what impact they will have for the district's students at a Parent University 7:30 p.m. Friday at the District Administration building entitled "APPR: What it Means For Your Child."
Pearl River's Parent Universities are free and open to all parents. They are co-sponsored by the Pearl River School District Continuing Adult Education Department and district PTAs.
