Pearl River Board Of Education To Vote On Anti-Bullying Policy

The second reading for policy that addresses the prevention of student bullying is part of the agenda for tonight's Pearl River Board of Education meeting 7:30 p.m. in Pirate Cove.

The safety of students will be part of the agenda for the final Pearl River Board of Education meeting of the 2010-11 school year.

The board will vote on a new policy designed to prevent student bullying. New policies must be read publicly twice before the board can vote. The second reading of Policy 0115 will take place at the meeting 7:30 p.m. tonight in Pirate Cove.

Assistant Superintendent Dr. John Morgano strongly supported the policy update at the board's last meeting June 7, stating that this is a high priority for the administration.

There will be a farewell reception for Auriemma before the meeting, from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Auriemma is retiring after 24 years as an administrator in the district, the last eight as superintendent of schools. Morgano officially takes over as superintendent July 1.
