The Pearl River Education Foundation recently began two fundraisers.
The Pearl River Education Foundation was created late in 2012 to raise money to pay for programs in Pearl River schools that are not covered in the district budget. The foundation's first fundraiser was a kick off gala in January at the Pearl River Elks Club.
Pearl River Education Foundation Day at Provident Bank Park is June 1. Two options are available for the Rockland Boulders game and fireworks that follow, starting at 6:30 p.m. Community room seats, which come with food and drinks, cost $50 per person. Home plate box seats are $18.
That night, a winner will be chosen in the raffle for an off-season weekend stay at a 6 bedroom/5 bathroom beach house in Montauk on Long Island. Tickets cost $25 per chance and the winner does not have to be present at the Boulders game.
For more information on both fundraisers or to purchase tickets, go to www.pearlriveredfoundation.com. To find out more about the foundation, email email@example.com or call Jackie Curtiss at 917-330-8574.
Curtiss said that although the foundation is just getting started in its fundraising efforts, applications for grants will be going to teachers this spring with the hope they can do much more next year.
"We don't have a lot of money to give out, but we want to give out something to show the community the effort on our part," Curtiss said.
