Pearl River Graduation Rate Tops Rockland County Schools

Pearl River High School boasts a graduation rate of 96 percent, tops in Rockland County.

Pearl River High School continues to maintain a high graduation rate, currently the highest in Rockland County.

"We all should be proud. I know I am, that Pearl River led the county in highest graduation rate (96 percent)," said Pearl River Superintendent of Schools Dr. Frank Auriemma at Tuesday's board meeting. I know that is not only the higehest in the county, but it does not include kids that need a little more time. What they really are measuring is kids who took the traditional four years."

Pearl River also had 61 percent of its students attain advanced Regents diplomas.

"We led the county in higher-level diplomas," Auriemma said. "We also had the highest percentage of kids scoring at the college-ready level in mathematics and English. That really and truly is important, especaily when college is as expensive as it is and you are paying for credits.

"Whether you come first or second is a tiny difference, but the bottom line is that you are always in the game. Our kids have proven that no matter how high we raise the bar, They reach it."
