Pearl River High School Cancels Weekend Events

The Homecoming Dance, Pep Rally and bonfire have all been cancelled due to the passing of Pearl River High School student Thomas Scognamiglio.

The Pearl River School District announced the cancellation of the following events this weekend due to the passing of Pearl River High School Student Thomas Scognamiglio. 

  • The pep rally and bonfire, which had been scheduled for 7:45 p.m. Friday. They may be rescheduled for the spring.
  • The Homecoming Dance, which had been set for this Saturday, has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 27.

The PSAT exam will still be administered 7:45 a.m. this Saturday. According to College Board rules, it cannot be rescheduled.

The start time for Saturday's home football game has been moved back to 2:30 p.m.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of our student Thomas Scognamiglio," Pearl River Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Morgano said in a release from the district. "Tommy was not only well liked by his peers and adults, he was respected and admired for his commitment to his family and school, and for his strength and courage during his illness. He will truly be missed and never forgotten."
