Pearl River Parent University Focuses on Media

The Pearl River School District's Parent University "Is the Media Affecting Your Child's Behavior?" will be held 7 p.m. Thursday in the Pearl River High School library.

Pearl River's Parent University will focus on the impact of media on the behavior of children 7 p.m. Thursday in the Pearl River High School library

Marcella Amorese, LMSW Assistant Director of Children and Family Services and Terri Loso, BS, OLWEUS Trainer, Success team Counselor for the Mental Health Association of Rockland County will address the positive and negative effects that television, movies, video games and smartphones can have on children's behavior and development.

Among the potential concerns are fear, anxiety, desensitization, aggression and obesity. Amorese and Loso will also offer strategies for becoming smarter media consumers.
