Pearl River School Board Approves Revised Schedule

Feb. 18 and 19 will now be regular school days for Pearl River Schools.

The Pearl River School District lost five days of classes to Hurricane Sandy.

The district got one back by holding classes Nov. 6, election day.

Tuesday the Pearl River Board of Education approved Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Morgano's suggested revisions to the schedule, which will change Feb. 18 and 19 to regular days with classes. They had been scheduled as days off. Morgano explained the changes in a letter to Pearl River parents, a copy of which is attached to this report along with the altered schedule.

"This plan restores three of the five instructional days lost, and unfortunately, there are no other days to capture without going into the December or spring recess, which I decided not to recommend," Morgano wrote.

The revised schedule leaves Pearl River with two snow days for the rest of the school year, March 25 and April 1.

What do you think of this solution? How important do you think it is to maintain the minimum number of days of classes even with so many days lost. Many districts around Rockland lost even more time.

An issues conference will be a wast of time and money. So many ' issues ' have been pulled out ofRead More thin air. The people who organized against the plant will just keep saying the same thing. No amount of info will be enough, no answer will be accepted. The issues conference will be a circus of endless questions, ideas, and demands. Haverstraw bay reclassified as drinking water will better protect it, provide an endless supply of water and finally help end the stereotype of the Hudson being polluted Recommend
