Pearl River Schools Closed Tuesday Due to Approaching Storm

Pearl River Schools will be closed Tuesday due to the winter storm warning.

The National Weather Service issued a storm warning calling for six to 10 inches of snow today. The warning will be in effect from noon Tuesday until 6 a.m. Wednesday, with the heaviest snow expected this afternoon.

The St. Margaret School in Pearl River also closes when the public schools close. They share transportation.

After school activities are cancelled, but there was no word as of 6 a.m. on the board of education meeting scheduled for Tuesday night.

Nanuet Schools will also be closed Tuesday. Clarkstown, South Orangetown and Nyack will be open, but all are on early dismissal schedules.

Last week on an icy day, school goes in in time. Today, when the storm is not forecasted to start until noon, the day is cancelled which now means a second make up day. Is there ever any rationale to the decision making? Other than Nanuet, every other district is on an early dismissal today.
