Pearl River Schools: Mourning Former Students, Teaching Assistant

Pearl River School District Superintendent Dr. John Morgano spoke of three recent losses in the community during Tuesday's board of education meeting in the district administration building.

Lindsey Stewart and Mark Lennon, who lost their lives in a boating accident July 26 near the Tappan Zee Bridge, were both graduates of Pearl River High School. Stewart's fiance, Brian Bond, was also injured in the accident. He is the son of Pearl River School Board member Bruce Bond, who did not attend Tuesday's meeting.

"We mourn their loss," Morgano said of Stewart and Lennon. "As we all know, Brian Bond was injured in the accident. He is doing well. We wish him well."

Mary Anne Distasi, who retired earlier this year as a teaching assistant at Pearl River Middle School, also recently passed away after a long illness.

Morgano asked for a moment of silence for Stewart, Lennon and Distasi.
