Pearl River Schools Re-Open Monday

Pearl River will also have a regular school day Tuesday in place of the planned Superintendent's Conference Day.

Pearl River Schools will re-open with a regular schedule Monday after being closed all last week due to Hurricane Sandy.

"I know that these are trying times and our thoughts and prayers go out to those in our community who have suffered personal loss," Pearl River Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Morgano said through a release from the district.

Tuesday, Nov. 6 will now be a regular school day in Pearl River. The planned Superintendent's Conference Day has been canceled.

Bus service will only be available for in-district students, which include the Pearl River School District's five buildings and the St. Margaret School in Pearl River. Parents whose children attend schools outside of Pearl River should check with that district regarding school status and busing. According to the release from the district, this is due to road conditions outside of Pearl River and limited fuel by the bus company.

Pearl River Schools will post transportation information for Tuesday at www.pearlriver.org and through K-12 alerts.

Power had been restored to all five buildings in the Pearl River School District late last week, though as of Friday the administration building was still without electricty. Schools were closed Thursday and Friday primarily due to transportation safety concerns.

South Orangetown Schools will open on a two-hour delay Monday. The Clarkstown School District announced earlier Sunday that its schools will remain closed Monday and Tuesday.
