Former Pearl River High School Athletes Play Alumni Games
Pearl River High School graduates will be playing in alumni athletic events in football, basketball, soccer, ice hockey, cross country and volleyball Thanksgiving Weekend.
Pearl River's alumni will try to continue the success of this year's varsity when they play Nanuet 10 a.m. Thursday in the Alumni Little Brown Jug Football game at Nanuet.
The game is just the first of a series of alumni athletic events Thanksgiving weekend in Pearl River.
The events are organized by former coaches and players as well as current Pearl River High School Coaches, with the support, equipment and facilities of the Pearl River Athletic Department. Spectators are welcome at all of of the events, though for some of them there is a small admission fee that goes to scholarship funds.

That includes the Shuttleworth Legends Alumni Flag Football game noon Friday on the Central Avenue Field.The game is named for Ira Shuttleworth, who coached at Pearl River from 1927-1956 and AD from 1927-1960.
The teams will be named after two men who played for Shuttleworth -- Dan Fortman and Harry Babcock. Fortman (Class of '32) played for the Chicago Bears and was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 1966. Babcock (Class of '49) was selected first overall in the 1953 NFL draft by the San Francisco 49ers.

- Alumni Little Brown Jug Football game 10 a.m. Saturday at Nanuet
- Shuttleworth Legends Alumni Flag Football Game noon Friday at Central Avenue Field.
- Alumni Women's Basketball Game 5 p.m. Friday at Pearl River High School.
- Alumni Men's Basketball Game 7 p.m. Friday at Pearl River High School.
- Alumni Men's Ice Hockey 8 p.m. Friday at Sport-O-Rama Ice Rink in
- Gus Filter Alumni Men's Soccer Game noon Saturday at Pearl River High School.
- Rockland County Alumni Cross Country Saturday at Bear Mountain. Registration at 11 a.m. Kids Fun races at 11:30 a.m. Alumni Run (3 miles) at noon. Open to all alumni.
- Alumni Women's Volleyball at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pearl River High School.
- Alumni Women's Soccer 2 p.m. Saturday at Pearl River High School.
Note: The all-class alumni reunion that had been scheduled for Wednesday was cancelled.
