Pearl River High School junior Erin Shortell spoke of the room for interpretation that the study of English allows.

Junior Terence Hughes spoke of the importance of critical reading, not only in the classroom but in life.

Both shared lessons they learned in earning their place among the 23 students inducted into the Pearl River High School English Honor Society at a ceremony Tuesday night in Pirate Cove.
