PRHS Honors Underclassmen, Top Seniors (VIDEO)

Pearl River High School honored the Class of 2012 Top 10 percent as part of its academic awards Monday night in the high school auditorium.

The school followed by giving out awards to students in grades eight through 11.

"Congratulations Classes of 2013, '14, '15 and '16," said Pearl River Board of Education President Michael Clohessy. "Tonight we celebrate and acknowledge your educational success here at Pearl River."

Clohessy also reminded them that they still have work to do in high school and beyond.

"You would not be here without a good deal of hard work," Pearl River Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Morgano said to the assembled students. "Thomas Jefferson said, 'I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have.' Ladies and gentlemen, there is no substitute for hard work. You have proven that."

Pearl River High School Principal William Furdon read off the names and accomplishments of the top 10 percent of the students in the Class of 2012. Video of all 24 students are attached to this report.

"Listen to the groups they have associated with," Furdon said. "You will see they epitomize the priorities of citizenship, academics and extra-curricular activities. They are bright, intelligent people. The best part is they are also unselfish with their time and all-around nice people. Their legacy is just beginning."
