Sports Roundup: Pearl River Softball, Tennis Teams Win, Boys Lacrosse Falls

Katie O'Flynn struck out 15 batters and walked none in a one-hit shutout to lead Pearl River to a 3-0 softball victory over Panas at home Friday.

O'Flynn also singled and walked for the Pirates (2-0).

Junior third baseman Amanda Hartigan and senior second baseman Kaity Goldrick each singled and drove in a run while senior shortstop Gemma Mahoney singled, walked and scored a run. Junior center fielder Kristyn Neroda, who injured her shoulder in the team's opener last week, returned to the lineup and went 1-for-3 with a walk

O'Reilly doubled for the only Panas hit.

Matt Barry scored on a pass from Joseph Buzzetti at 3:36 of the third overtime to give Clarkstown South a 5-4 victory over Pearl River.
Buzzetti scored three goals and assisted on two more for Clarkstown South.
Pearl River goalie Lowell Hunt made 21 saves in the contest.
