St. Margaret School Principal Carolyn Slattery still isn't sure how her school will make up the lost days, but she was one of many who were happy that they could reopen Wednesday.
"Wednesday was great," Slattery said. "We had almost full attendance. The teachers were very happy to be back. The staff was happy. I was thrilled."
St. Margaret's lost seven days to the power outage caused by Hurricane Sandy and was the last of the schools in Pearl River to get its full electricity back. The Pearl River School District reopened its five schools Monday.
There was some power to the building before Tuesday night, but no heat. Poll worker and voters ran into the same issue in St. Margaret Church's Toner Hall Tuesday.
"We had partial power," Slattery said. "I was told that the line that ran to the burenrs was the one that was down."
Slattery said the make-up dates for the time lost are still to be determined.
