Attention: Little League Board Members, Coaches

This year Patch Sports wants to give recognition to every little league baseball and softball team with the help of the coaches and board members.

Patch Sports is looking to cover baseball and softball at all levels this year and with the little league season about to begin we are asking for participation from coaches and board members from across the Hudson Valley.

In order to keep everything consistent Patch would like you to keep to this format when submitting scores, pictures and highlights to HVDailySportsDigest@gmail.com

Sport: Baseball/Softball

League: Town, Age/Grade, League Name

Score: Local Hardware 8 – Town Barbershop 4

Highlights: One sentence about the winning team including three names of athletes from that team. One sentence about the losing team including two names of athletes from that team.

If you send a picture please be sure to include a one sentence caption for the photo and the name of the person who took it.

Thursday's results

Sport: Girls Lacrosse

Result: Suffern 9, Pearl River 8

Highlights: Suffern scored the winning goal with 3:13 remaining to beat Pearl River in the Pirates' first game of the season. Senior Kiera McMullan scored two goals and assisted on two more and Allison Cook and Maggie Davin each scored twice for Pearl River.  

Lely Desimone scored four goals and assisted on another for Suffern.

Saturday's Schedule

In boys and girls track and field, Pearl River will host top area teams in the 23rd Annual Pirate Relays. The freshmen and sophomore events begin at 8:30 a.m. The varsity events begin at noon.

In boys lacrosse, Pearl River will play at North Rockland at noon.

In baseball, Clarkstown North will play at Pearl River at 1 p.m.

Peal River High School Sports Hall of Fame Induction

The Pearl River High School Sports Hall of Fame will hold its 13th annual induction 6 p.m. Saturday at the Pearl River Elks Club. 

The 2012 inductees are:

  • Sandy Cokeley, retired Pearl River School District Administrator - Tom & Priscilla Lanks Service Award
  • Dr. Frank Auriemma, retired Pearl River Superintendent of Schools - Tom & Priscilla Lanks Service Award
  • Tom Collins, Athletic Director from 1992 to 2010. 
  • Steve Vislocky, soccer player and coach, Class of 1974. Won section championships as a player and as a coach. 
  • Rory Finn, all-state soccer player, Class of 1985
  • Helene Roher/Collins - Volleyball, basketbal, tennis player, Class of 1980
  • 1995 Men's Soccer team - Section 1 Class B Champions
