Clarkstown South Beats Pearl River Wrestling

Clarkstown South dominated the upper weights to win at Pearl River, 44-32.

Pearl River led Thursday's dual meet at home against Clarkstown South by 12 points after Ryan Mullahy pinned Nick Russo at 160 pounds.

The lead was not enough to overcome Clarkstown South's strength in the upper weights.

Clarkstown South won the final five matchs, from 170 pounds to 285, to defeat Pearl River, 44-32.

John Muldoon and Nick Simeti also recorded pins for Pearl River and James Kelly won in a tech fall at 106. James Fortuno (182), Austin Maurer (195) and Nick Holahan (285) all won by pinfall for Clarkstown South.

In two of the better matches, Pearl River's Rob Gullo defeated Sean Maloney, 5-1, at 152 pounds and South's Hassan Auwarter pulled out a 6-5 decision over Shaun Carroll at 170.
