Daily Sports Digest: New City Swimmer Comes Up Short At Olympic Trials

New City’s Conor Carlucci finished 112th out of more than 140 swimmers in the 100 meter breaststroke Monday night at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Omaha, Neb.

The former Condors swimmer in the Rockland County Summer Swim League who just graduated from Brown University was competing for a shot to go to this summer’s London Olympics.


Carlucci finished with a time of 1:05.27 in the race. The top 16 competitors advanced to the semifinals, which were also Monday night. The top eight from the semifinals will compete in Tuesday’s final for a chance to go to London.

Pearl River Little League Update

The Pearl River 9/10 All-Stars' first game was rained out Monday. The game was rescheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday night on McCarthy Field at the Anderson Field Complex in Pearl River against Haverstraw.

The Pearl River 11/12 All-Stars made it to the District 18 finals 7 p.m. tonight at Haverstraw's Gurnee Field.
