Pearl River girls basketball Coach Lorraine Moylan wanted her team to face a tougher schedule this season. The Pirates (16-1) face what may be the toughest test on their regular-season schedule 4:15 p.m. Friday at Ossining (17-0), the top team in Class AA.

Both teams have Division I recruits. Pearl River's Christa Scognamiglio has signed with Fairfield. Ossining's Soniya Chong is being recruited by some of the top Division I programs in the country.

"She's very good," Moylan said of Chong. "She can score inside. She can score outside. She's quick. She has great body control. She can shoot outside, she defends and gets a lot of steals. This year, she added more assists."

The Pride will be the top seed in the Class AA playoffs and the Pirates will be No. 1 in Class A when the brackets are released Monday.
