After the Pirates cross country team dominated Tuesday afternoon at Bear Mountain as both the boys and girls teams . Local athletes didn’t fair as well in the girl’s but two local boy’s teams did win their soccer games.

Game: League 4B Boy’s 3 Mile Run

Score: Pearl River 26 – Tappan Zee 34 – Nyack 88 – Nanuet 96 – Albertus Magnus 153
Highlights: Pearl River won the boy’s competition with ease as they had 12 runners finish in the top 25 and 4 in the top 6. Joe Clinton led the team as he finished 3rd in the race with a time of 16:09.81. Clinton’s teammates Stephen McNiff, Kieran Brennan and Brian Edsall all finished right behind him.
The top finisher for the 5th place Falcons was Sean McNiff who crossed the finish line with a time of 19:10.26.

Game: Girl’s 3 Mile Run
Score: Pearl River 27 – Nanuet 37 – Tappan Zee 67
Highlights: To no one’s surprise Pearl River finished first in this year’s tournament. The Pirates had four runners in the competition’s top 6 and cruised to victory. Molly Shine finished 2nd with a time of 18:14.90 while Kelly Hayes came in ten seconds behind her for 3rd.

Score: Lauren Sapienza (Clarkstown South) defeated Kristen Arendt (Albertus Magnus) 6-0, 6-0
Highlights: Pearl River sent three doubles teams to the conference tournament and unfortunately they were both ousted early. Rachel Broudy and Alieen Burke fell in a tough match against Tappan Zee while Shannon McGuiness and Stacey Wang lost in straight sets to a team from Nyack.
Kristen Arendt of Albertus Magnus fell to Lauren Sapienza of Clarkstown South in straight sets.

Game: Spring Valley @ Pearl River
Score: Pearl River Won 3-1
Highlights: The Pirates took the lead early and never relinquished it as Pearl River went on to win 3-1 at home. Alec Zbar had two goals for the team as Mike Vinci added the other. Alex Castillo added 2 assists in the victory and Justin Cueva had 4 saves.
Sport: Boy’s Soccer
Game: Nyack @ Albertus Magnus
Score: Albertus Magnus Won 3-0
Highlights: James Huber led the way for the Falcons with 2 goals and 1 assist, Arnell Dandridge added a goal and assist for Albertus Magnus in the victory. Nyack’s Jon Rizner led the Indian defense with 8 saves in defeat.
Today’s Schedule:
In girl’s soccer, Nyack was scheduled to play at Pearl River at 4 p.m., but the game has been postponed due to rain. The make-up date and time has not been announced yet. When it is played, the Pirates will pay tribute to their seniors before the game. In the early season matchup the Pirates beat the Indians 3-1.
