Boulders Close Out Weekend With Big Win

After dropping the first two games of a weekend set against Quebec, the Rockland Boulders bounced back on Sunday using an explosive offense en route to an 18-12 victory.

Jon Smith belted two home runs and each Boulder starter had at least one hit on Sunday at home against the Capitales. Ryan Mollica and Keith Brachold hit back-to-back doubles in the bottom of the first to cut Quebec’s lead to 2-1. In the same inning, Phillip Cuadrado recorded his first hit as a Boulder, a two-run homer to give Rockland the lead. Quebec tied it up in the third, but Rockland would go on to score multiple runs in each of the next five innings. Mollica homered in the fourth and the Boulders scored six runs in the fifth, including home runs from Smith and Brachold.

The Boulders travel to Newark tonight to begin a four-game series against the Bears.
