New City-Suffern-Congers used a third consecutive no-hitter over the weekend to advance to the championship of the 9-10 softball all-star state tournament.
Kaitlyn Fudge has started all three games, and she pitched all six innings on Saturday in NCSC’s 9-0 win against Oneida in Syrcause. NCSC Coach Eddie Fudge said Kaitlyn Fudge’s no-hitter remained in tact thanks to some great defense from Megan Keveney and Samantha Kaner.
Fudge hasn’t given up a run so far in tournament play, and NCSC hasn’t lost a game in the district, section and so far state tournament.
Offensively, Kristen Tarantino blasted a home run and drove in two runs, while Kimberly Kaufman went 2-3 in the win.
NCSC can win the state title Monday at 1 p.m. against Half Hollow Hills. In its first game of the state tournament, NCSC beat Half Hollow Hills 2-0. Since NCSC is undefeated, to win the state title Half Hollow Hills would have to beat NCSC twice.
Pearl River Softball Reaches Brady Tourney Title Game
The Pearl River Little League 9-10 softball all-stars clinched a spot in the finals of the Alicia Brady Memorial Tournament with a 9-4 win against Nanuet on Saturday.
Isabella Esposito had two hits and scord three runs for Pearl River in the win. Mary Borokski had two hits, two RBIs and scored twice.
Pearl River will play for the championship Wednesday against the winner of tonight's game between Nanuet and New City-Congers.
Pearl River Baseball All-Stars Finish With Win
The Pearl River 9-10 all-stars finished out the Billy Kayser Memorial Tournament with a 7-1 win against New City. With the win, Pearl River finished the tournament with a record of 2-2, not enough to put the host in the semifinals.
The semifinals start Tuesday, with Nanuet playing Suffern and West Nyack facing off against Ramapo.
