Doherty Puts Suffern Track Atop Spring Dandy Dozen

Each time former Pearl River Athletic Director Tom Doherty sends out one of his Dandy Dozen rankings of the top sports team in Rockland County for a particular season, he finishes with the words "Let the Discussion Begin."

Doherty uses a wide range of criteria including tournament results, state rankings, county championships, strength of schedule and head-to-head competition, but the primary goal is to promote interest in Rockland County athletics.

The Suffern girls track and field team sits atop Doherty's Dandy Dozen for the 2013 Spring Sports after finishing second in the state standings, fourth in the Federation, at the New York State Track and Field Championships.

Suffern also won the team title at the Rockland County Championship meet with individual titles for Imani Solan (100, 200); Kamryn McIntosh (400,800); Kate Zendell (Steeplechase) as well as winning the 4X100 and 4X400 relays.
