Dominican's Clinton Named CACC's Top Coach

Dominican College Head Coach Joe Clinton was named CACC Men's Basketball Coach of the Year for 2012-13. Two Chargers, Leon Porter and Cory Quimby, were named first-team all-conference.

Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference coaches voted Dominican College's Joe Clinton the 2012-13 CACC Men's Basketball Coach of the Year last week.

Clinton led the Chargers (22-5 overall, 15-3 in the CACC) to a North Division title and a Top 25 ranking in the NABC Division II Coaches' Poll. Dominican is currently ranked No. 23, the highest it has been in the program's history.

Clinton was also named CACC Coach of the Year in 1995-96, 1999-2000 and 2000-2001. His career coaching record is 329-316, including 210-156 in the CACC.

Two of Clinton's players, senior guard Leon Porter and senior center Cory Quimby, were voted All-CACC by the coaches.

Porter is making his second consecutive appearance on the All-CACC First team. The Chargers' leading scorer, Porter is 11th in the CACC in points per game.

Quimby was voted to the second team this year after being named the CACC Co-Player of the Year in 2011-12. Quimby is the Chargers' top rebounder and No. 2 scorer.

Dominican defeated Chestnut Hill College, 91-85, Saturday at home in the CACC quarterfinals. The Chargers play Philadelphia University in the semifinals 5 p.m. Friday at University of Sciences in Philadelphia, PA.
