The Town of Orangetown Highway Department will be holding its 16th Annual Open House Saturday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Highway Maintenance Facility at 119 Route 303 in Orangeburg.
Orangetown residents and families are invited to tour the facility, witness equipment demonstrations and learn more about the operation of the Orangetown Highway Department.
Special guests at this year's open house will include the Orangetown Police Department, Rockland Countyh Sheriff's Department, Rockland County Solid Waste Management Authority, Organic Recycling, Inc. and Keep Rockland Beautiful, which will display over 100 painted trash barrels decorated to help promote litter reduction. These recycled 55 gallon drums are the creaton of local artists, ranging from professionals to children.
The first 50 children in attencance will receive Highway Helper t-shirts.
The open house is sponsored by the Town of Orangetown in conjunction with the American Public Words Association for National Public Works Week, which runsf rom May 20-26, 2012.
