Hayes Makes National Time at Red Raider Relays

Freshman Kelly Hayes and two boys relay teams had the top finishes for Pearl River at North Rockland

Pearl River freshman Kelly Hayes registered the top finish for Pearl River at the Red Raider Relays Friday and Saturday, taking second in the 1600-Meter Run in a time of 5:08.99, meeting the national silver standard.

Cornwall senior Aisling Cuffe won the race with a meet-record time of 4:54.46.

Two other members of the Pearl River girls team finished in the top 10 in their events -- freshman Amanda Maroney took eighth in the 100 hurdles and junior Ceili McMorrow was ninth in the 3200.

Junior Tom Bonaro turned in a strong peformance for the Pearl River boys. He took eighth place in the 400, helped the 4X800 Relay take fifth place and the Distance Relay take third.

Neil Ryan, Tom Lappas, Stephen McNiff, Brenden Bateman and Joey Clinton joined Bonaro on the 4X800 Relay, which finished in a time of 8:43.66.

Bonaro, Clinton, Kieran Brennan, Francis DePinto, Bateman and McNiff were on the Distance Medley Relay, which ran a time of 11:06.66.

Tom Lappas finished ninth in the 3200 and Nick Speleotes took 10th in the Pentathlon.
