Kayser-Brady Tournament Gets Rolling

The Kayser-Brady Memorial Tournament opened with five games Sunday morning at the Anderson Field Complex in Orangeburg Sunday.

Billy Kayser Memorial (Baseball)

  • South Orangetown 5, Nanuet 4 -- Nanuet's Andrew Knapp and South Orangetown's Joseph Francomano each threw five shutout innings to start the game, but South Orangetown took the lead to stay with a five-run sixth with key hits by Brendan Baiamonte, Jake Walter, Matthew Shine, Luke Rabinowitz and Francomano. Jason Wain, A.J. Fitzmaurice and Ryan Donohue walked and Knapp singled in a four-run Nanuet rally. 
  • Pearl River Little League 12, Suffern 10 -- Patrick Burke tripled and James O'Connell doubled during Pearl River's five-run third inning. Tim Lotto doubled in the fourth and Jack Scanlon hit a fifth-inning triple. Aiden O'Donnell doubled and Josh Kaplan, Tucker LInko and Liam O'Donnell singled during Suffern's seven-run third inning. Jack Dwyer struck out the last two in the fourth and shut Suffern down the rest of the way for Pearl River. 
Alicia Brady Memorial (Softball)
  • Pearl River 13, New City-Congers 3 -- Winning pitcher Brigid Miller threw a one-hitter, had two hits and scored three runs. Molly Brooks and Julie Fitzgerald each had two hits and Reagan Fleming and Maggie McGrane each each scored two runs for Pearl River. Rachel Lander scored a run, drove in one and stole three bases and Ashley Tyles singled and scored a run for New City-Congers.
  • Nanuet 4, Nyack-Valley Cottage 3 -- Tara Connolly struck out 16 in seven innings and Catherine Hardwick drove in Julianna Gassler with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh for Nanuet. Nicole Graff struck out six and gave up four hits in seven innings for Nyack-Valley Cottage. Maille Hawley hit an RBI single in the first, then singled, stole two bases and scored a run in the third for Nyack-Valley Cottage.
