Sophomore Erin Woods sparked Pearl River's offense from the No. 9 spot in the order as the Pirates won at Nanuet, 5-0, Thursday.
Woods walked, stole second and came around to score Pearl River's first run on a Kristyn Neroda single in the top of the fifth inning, the start of a four-run rally. Woods singled, stole second and scored again in the sixth.
Another sophomore, Mandy McCarthy, did the rest. She struck out 10 while shutting out Nanuet on one hit and two walks and went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
Senior third baseman Amanda Hartigan singled twice and drove in a run for the Pirates (16-0), who will play rival Tappan Zee 8 p.m. Friday on Bailey's Field at the South Orangetown Little League complex in Orangeburg. McCarthy threw a no-hitter in a 1-0 Pearl River victory when the teams met April 21 at Pearl River.
Rebecca Richards singled in the third inning for Nanuet's only hit. Losing pitcher Kelly Vellardito struck out three and gave up three earned runs on 11 hits and two walks.
