Nanuet Ends Pearl River's 33-Year Championship Run

Nanuet won the Section 1 Class B girls cross country championship Tuesday at Bowdoin Park, snapping Pearl River's 33-year winning streak. Tappan Zee won the boys title.

Pearl River's streak of 33 consecutive girls cross country championships ended Tuesday.

Nanuet won the Section 1 Class B championship meet at Bowdoin Park in Wappinger Falls, ending a run by Pearl River that also included eight state championships. Pearl River was second with 52 points and Tappan Zee third with 53.

Nanuet's Megan Young finished first overall, leading five Golden Knights in the top 17 finishers.

The Pearl River boys team also fell short of defending its section championship. Tappan Zee won the Class B boys title. 

The New York State Cross Country Championships are set for Nov. 10 at Elma Meadows in Elma, NY.
