North Rockland won the 33rd Annual Michael O’Connell Wrestling Tournament, at Pearl River High School Friday, giving the school its first win in the tournament’s history.
Marlon Borge (108 pounds), Blaise Benderoth (122 pounds) and Nick Didio (162 pounds) won their weight classes for North Rockland.
Warwick finished second, followed by Tappan Zee, Pearl River and Washingtonville to round out the top five. The other competing teams were Clarkstown North, Dobbs Ferry, East Ramapo, Hendrick Hudson, Irvington, Lakeland/Panas, Nyack, Tuxedo, Westlake and Sleepy Hollow.
Pearl River junior John Muldoon earned Most Outstanding Wrestler honors for wrestlers in weight classes from 101 to 147 pounds, and Tappan Zee’s Desmond Djekovic won Most Outstanding Wrestling for competitors in the 154 to 287 pound weight classes.
