Pearl River and Nyack entered Monday's game jostling for position among the teams in the middle of the pack in Section 1 Class A.
Nyack rallied in the fourth quarter for a 60-52 victory at home, improving the Indian's playoff positioning heading into the pairings meeting Monday night.
Four players scored in double figures for Nyack (11-7), which outscored Pearl River, 26 to 10, in the fourth quarter.
Junior forward Kevin Degnan led Pearl River (10-8) with 22 points. Sophomore guard Jack Byrnes scored 13 and senior forward Tom Davis added 11.
The victory helped get Nyack directly into the first round of the Class A playoffs Friday. The No. 7 seeded Indians will play at home against No. 10 Pelham.
Pearl River fell to the No. 12 seed and will play a preliminary round game at home Wednesday against Roosevelt.
