Pearl River defeated Saugerties, 18-4, in four innings in the first game of the New York State 10-year-old softball championships Tuesday in Fishkill.
Sophia Gerace had three hits and three runs scored for Pearl River. Julia Killcommens and Ashley Barressi each had three hits and Alyssa Smith scored three runs.
Pearl River will play Fredonia Wednesday in the second game of pool play.
