Rain continues to disrupt baseball and softball schedules all around Section 1.

No. 8 Pearl River's first-round Class A playoff game against No. 9 Byram Hills was rained out Thursday and rescheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Pearl River.

That would push the quarterfinals back to Saturday, with the semifinals moving to Tuesday, May 29, assuming there are no more rain outs. Friday's forecast calls for a 50 percent chance of rain in the form of scattered showers all day.

The Pearl River softball team's first-round playoff game scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday at home.

Pearl River (17-1), the top seed in Class A, will No. 16 John Jay-Cross River (10-11), which defeated Walter Panas, 6-4, in an outrbracket game Thursday.

There was a threat of that game being rained out. Pearl River Director of Athletics Todd Santabarbara said that in that case, Panas and John Jay would have played their game at Pearl River, with the winner taking on Pearl River in the second half of a double-header Friday.

Accodording to MSG varsity, in other Class A play Thurday, Nanuet defeated Port Chester, 16-1. Nanuet (13-7) will play at No. 6 seed Eastchester (14-5) Friday, tentatively at 4:30 p.m.

Another one of Pearl River's league opponents, Nyack (10-9) also advanced Thursday, but did so via forfeit by Riverside. Nyack will play at No. 2 seed Pelham (18-2) Friday.
