Pearl River Baseball, Softball Rained Out On Senior Day

The boys varsity tennis conference tournament has also been cancelled for Tuesday. UPDATED with make-up dates for baseball, softball and tennis.

The Pearl River baseball and softball teams were both scheduled to recognize their seniors at home games this afternoon. Both will have to wait.

The baseball game scheduled for 4 p.m. against Nanuet and softball contest set for 4:15 p.m. against Nyack were both rained out Tuesday. The baseball game has been rescheduled for 4:15 p.m. Wednesday. Softball was moved to 4:15 p.m. Monday, May 21, the final day for regular-season games.

The first day of the boys conference tennis tournament, which will be played at Pearl River, was also cancelled Tuesday. The tournament will begin with play-ins 2 p.m. Wednesday. It is still to be determined if the tournament will be completed Wednesday or run into Thursday.

As of 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, the girls lacrosse game scheduled for 4:15 p.m. at Nanuet had not been postponed. Today is the final day for regular-season play in girls lacrosse. Pearl River Director of Athletics Todd Santabarbara said they are doing all they can to get the game played today because the Section 1 Class C girls lacrosse playoff pairings meeting was moved up to tonight. This was done because an unusually high number of teams will be on the Class C playoffs, including Pearl River, which is the defending champion.

Any further rain could make for scheduling challenges in baseball and softball as well, with Sunday being the final day for regular-season play in baseball and Monday the last day for softball. The baseball playoff pairings meeting is set for Monday, May 21, with softball Tuesday, May 22.

The Pearl River baseball team already has games scheduled for Thursday at Nanuet and Friday at home against Tappan Zee. The Pearl River softball team is scheduled to play Thursday at Nanuet, Friday 8 p.m. under the lights at South Orangetown Little League's Bailey Field and Sunday at Clarkstown South.

The home baseball game against Tappan Zee and the softball game at Clarkstown South are both makeups of rainouts from earlier this season.
