Pearl River Basketball Teams Earn No. 2 Seeds in Section Tournaments

Pearl River's boys and girls basketball teams will both play home games Fridays as No. 2 seeds in the Section 1 tournaments.

The teams will likely play in a double-header in the evening, but the official times have not been confirmed yet.

The Pearl River girls (17-1) earned the No. 2 spot in the Class A tournament and will play at 5 p.m. Friday against the winner of Thursday's outbracket game between Harrison (6-12) and Beacon (4-14) at Harrison.

In the Class A boys first round, Pearl River (15-3) is will play at home 7 p.m.  Friday against the the winner of a Thursday outbracket game between Ardsley and Saunders.

Albertus Magnus will also host a double-header Friday. The girls team (17-1), which is the No. 3 seed in Class A, will play Nyack (8-10) at 5 p.m. The Albertus Magnus boys (14-4), the No. 2 seed in Class B, will take on Putnam Valley (5-13) at 7 p.m.

The Pearl River girls would get a third meeting with Albertus Magnus if both teams reach the semifinals next week.

The Tappan Zee girls (13-5) are the No. 6 seed in the Class A bracket. They will play at home 5 p.m. Friday against Lakeland (10-8). The Dutchies could face the Falcons for a third time in the quarterfinals next Tuesday. Albertus Magnus won the first two meetings.

Tappan Zee (14-4) got the third seed in the Class A Boys tournament and will play 7 p.m. Friday against the winner of Thursday's outbracket game between Lourdes (6-10) and Spring Valley (7-10).
