Pearl River Beats Nanuet With Six-Run First-Inning Outburst

The Pearl River softball team defeated Nanuet, 9-1, at home Monday.

Senior catcher Jamie DeGennaro went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI to lead the Pearl River offense in a 9-1 victory over Nanuet at home Monday.

Nanuet scored an unearned run in the top of the first inning, but could manage nothing more against Pearl River ace Katie O'Flynn, who struck out nine, walked none and gave up two hits in six innings for the victory. Freshman Mandy McCarthy struck out two in the seventh to complete the victory.

The Pirates belted out 15 hits in the contest, including two each by Nicole Leote, Amanda Schule, Katherine McLaughlin and Amanda Hartigan. DiMondugno went 2-for-2 and drove in Nanuet's only run.

Pearl River improved to 12-0 on the season, dropping Nanuet to 4-8.
