Pearl River Defeats Dobbs Ferry in Slam Dunk Showcase

Kevin Degnan scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Pearl River in an 82-51 victory over Dobbs Ferry in the Slam Dunk Tournament Showcase Game Sunday at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.

Degnan, named the game's outstanding player, made nine of 17 shots from the field to aid the offensive outburst by the Pirates (5-3). Pearl River scored 52 points in the first half and had four scorers in double figures for the second consecutive game.

Thomas Armour made three 3-point shots and finished with 15 points and nine assists for the Pirates. Senior forward James Linnane scored 10 points and reserve Pat Conway had 17.

George Roca scored 20 points and Gabe Nitale added 10 for Dobbs Ferry. 

Pearl River's next game is 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3 at home against Albertus Magnus.
