Pearl River Field Hockey Run Ends at Lakeland

The Pearl River Field Hockey team set a series of new standards for the program during a 13-game unbeaten run, including most victories in a season, first league championship, highest playoff seed and longest run into the postsaason.

The Pirates finally ran into an obstacle they could not overcome Friday with a season-ending 9-0 loss at four-time defending state champion Lakeland in the Section 1 Class B semifinals.

"I'm proud of the girls and the season they had," Pearl River Head Coach Shane Carlacci said by email. "Definitely a marquee year for Pearl River field hockey."
