The Pearl River field hockey team clinched the first league championship in the program's history with a 4-0 victory at home against Clarkstown South Friday.
The Pirates completed their regular season with a record of 10-2-4. They now await the Section 1 playoff pairings meeting Tuesday, Oct. 23. Courtney Ocasal scored two goals in Friday's victory, giving her a team-high 21 for the season. Jackie Dowling and Maggie Davin each had a goal and an assist, AnaMaria Ferrara assisted on Davin's goal and Annie McBride made eight saves to help the Pirates record their sixth shutout.
