Pearl River Football Flies Past Gorton

Pearl River quarterback Chris Van Houten threw for 216 yards and two touchdowns in the Pirates 20-6 victory at Gorton Saturday.

Van Houten completed 12 of his 24 pass attempts, threw one interception and rushed for 20 yards as Pearl River (2-4) won for the second time in three games. Aidan Weir caught five passes for 108 yards and one touchdown.  Rob Gullo did most of the work on the ground, carrying the ball 11 times for 57 yards and one touchdown.

Pearl River's defense turned in another strong performance, giving up only a third-quarter score. Linebacker Jimmy Linnane made 12 and a half tackles, defensive lineman Ryan Mullahy had 10 tackles and forced a fumble and defensive back Pat Metcalfe intercepted a pass for the Pirates.

Pearl River will complete its 2013 schedule at home 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 in the Little Brown Jug game against Nanuet.
