"I think South is a good team," Pearl River Head Coach Lorraine Moylan said. "I don't know if they played so well today. Sometimes it's the day or night and how you feel. I think we came out and played real hard. I think that's the key for us. Play hard and good things will happen to us."

Cook sparked the offense early with 10 first half points, including a pair of 3-point shots. Cook has always been a strong outside shooter, but she is looking to attack the basket more.

"When I was warming up, I didn't make any shots," Cook said. "Sometimes we can get all the bad shots out before the actual game. That's what happened."

The victory was the 499th of Moylan's coaching career. The Pirates can give her No. 500 when they play Brewster 2 p.m. Monday in the first round of the Slam Dunk Tournament in the Westchester County Center. Moylan has tried to deflect talk of the milestone, saying that the players are the ones who did all the work. Her players seem more excited about it.

"It's a big deal," Cook said. "(Reaching) 500 wins is crazy and it's at the County Center."

Fourth graders with the undefeated St. Aedan's girls basketball entertained the crowd with a shoting contest at halftime. Video of the 4th graders is attached to this article.
